## What it's known for

John Lennon's art-school local, where he took Cynthia on their first date. Closed in spring 2025, it reopened that August under new owners after a careful restoration and now pours rotating cask ales plus its own Dissenter pilsner, with a walled beer garden. Open Monday to Thursday noon–11pm, Friday and Saturday noon–midnight, Sunday noon–11pm.

A council licensing hearing in February 2026 allowed it to open its old cellar as a bar; neighbours have complained about noise, so expect it to be lively.

Check opening hours with the venue before you go: they change, especially early in the week.
