The first brewery on Newport Avenue, opened in 2016: three floors topped by an open-air rooftop built to be the highest point in OB, looking over the pier and the surf. Its Dunkel won GABF silver in 2017 and it was named Very Small Brewpub of the Year at GABF 2018. Food served. Open 11am to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 11am to 10pm Friday and Saturday.

Getting there: Ocean Beach is about 10 km west of downtown, beyond Point Loma's Midway district. Buses from Old Town or downtown take 30–40 minutes; a rideshare is quicker.

Everything here is within a few blocks of Newport Avenue. Mike Hess to Kilowatt (about 1 km down Cable Street) is the only real walk; the other four stops are 2–5 minutes apart.

Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens at Liberty Station (2816 Historic Decatur Rd), about 4 km east, opens at 11am with 40 taps, gardens and bocce; it makes a good lunch stop on the way out by bus or rideshare.

Belching Beaver's and Nova's old Newport Avenue taprooms are closed (2020 and June 2026).

**Alcohol-free and pacing:** ask at the bar for alcohol-free beers and soft drinks, and remember a half is always fine. Eat along the way, drink water between stops, and skip a stop whenever you like. [More tips](https://thecraftbeercrawl.com/responsible-drinking/).
