What it's known for
Modern Times' North Park tasting room, on the corner of 30th and Upas: a retro room with a bar built from old VHS tapes and a ceiling of vintage lampshades, 20 taps of Modern Times beers including one-offs and pilot batches, bags of the company's coffee and a rack of vinyl for sale. Open noon to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and noon to 11pm Friday and Saturday.
The southern start of the route, about ten minutes' walk below University Avenue. Modern Times has shrunk sharply since 2024 (its Point Loma brewery and Encinitas lounge have closed and its beer is now brewed under contract by AleSmith); the beer brand's owner took this room back in June 2026, so check hours before you go.
