Best time: Any day from 3pm (Mikkeller and ÅBEN open at 3pm on weekdays); from noon at the weekend. Kødbyen fills up after 10pm on Friday and Saturday, so start early if you want seats. Opening hours change, so check each venue before you set off.
Istedgade 130, 1650 København V
The old Bang & Jensen café at the Enghave Plads end of Istedgade, taken over by the Bootleggers craft beer bar group in 2025 and reopened that July. It has a broad, deep beer list and staff who know it, and won the Danish Beer Enthusiasts' Dansk Ølmærke in 2026. Open daily from noon (to midnight Sunday to Wednesday, 1am Thursday, 2am Friday and Saturday).
Halmtorvet 29C, 1700 København V
A long-running independent craft beer bar on Halmtorvet, the square on the edge of Kødbyen, with a changing list of Danish and international drafts. Open daily from 1pm (to midnight Sunday to Wednesday, 1am Thursday, 2am Friday and Saturday).
Viktoriagade 8B-C, 1655 København V
The first Mikkeller bar, opened in May 2010 in a small two-room cellar, and the bar that kick-started Denmark's craft beer boom. Around half the taps pour Mikkeller beer and the rest come from friends of the brewery, with a long bottle list that leans towards sours. Open from 3pm Monday to Friday (to 11pm Monday to Wednesday, midnight Thursday, 1am Friday) and from noon at weekends (to 1am Saturday, 11pm Sunday).
Flæsketorvet 25, 1711 København V
A big brewpub in a former meatpacking hall in Kødbyen, set up by Mikkeller and Indiana's 3 Floyds. Around 20 taps of beer brewed on site, served with Texas-style barbecue from its own smokers. Open daily from 11:30 (to midnight most nights, later at weekends).
Slagtehusgade 15, 1715 København V
ÅBEN's brewery bar, where every beer is brewed on site and poured straight from the 14 tanks hanging from the ceiling. Open from 3pm Monday to Thursday (to midnight, 1am Thursday) and from 2pm Friday to Sunday (to 2am Friday and Saturday, 11pm Sunday).
Getting there: start at Enghave Plads metro (M3 City Circle line), two minutes from Bootleggers. The route finishes in Kødbyen, about 10 minutes' walk from Copenhagen Central Station (København H).
Fermentoren to Mikkeller (about 600 m) is the longest leg, back through the Istedgade side of Vesterbro to Viktoriagade.
WarPigs and ÅBEN are a two-minute walk apart in Kødbyen, so you can swap them round. Eat at WarPigs; ÅBEN no longer serves food.
