Chicago craft beer venues

Begyle Brewing

1800 W Cuyler Ave, Chicago, IL 60613

The first taproom to open on Malt Row, in 2012, and still a neighbourhood fixture. Begyle Blonde and Free Bird pale ale are the year-round staples, and its 'community supported brewery' (CSB) members prepay for growler fills, like a farm-share scheme. Sidewalk patio, regular food trucks, trivia nights. Open daily: noon to 9pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11am to 10pm Saturday and noon to 8pm Sunday; its site lists earlier openings on Tuesday and Friday (until 9pm and 10pm).

Cruz Blanca Taquería + Brewery

904 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607

West Loop brewpub opened in 2016 by Rick Bayless (who left in 2020; Manny Valdes runs it), pairing house-brewed Mexican-inspired cervezas, from Mexican-style lagers to barrel-aged specialities, with wood-fired tacos, Cali burritos and tlayudas. Open 11:30am to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 11:30am to midnight Friday and Saturday (official site; some listings show it closed on Mondays).

Demo Brewing Company

1763 W Berteau Ave, Chicago, IL 60613

Malt Row's smallest brewery, a garage-door nano brewery opened in 2024 by Jeffrey Borders and Lucas Irvine, with a tap list that rotates constantly (it has brewed more than 60 different beers), house seltzer, board games and regular food pop-ups. Open 4pm to 10pm Wednesday and Thursday, 4pm to 11pm Friday, noon to 11pm Saturday and noon to 7pm Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Dovetail Brewery

1800 W Belle Plaine Ave, Chicago, IL 60613

Specialists in continental European beer who brew continental European styles the traditional way, with open fermenters and a coolship for spontaneous beers; the helles, Vienna lager and rauchbier are the reasons to go. Bring your own food, with pop-ups most Thursdays to Sundays. Open noon to 10pm Monday to Thursday, noon to 11pm Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8pm Sunday.

Forbidden Root

1746 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622

Chicago's self-styled 'first botanic brewery': a brewpub in a converted West Town building that builds beers around herbs, fruit, roots and flowers alongside straighter lagers and IPAs, with a full seasonal kitchen and a heated covered patio. Third-party listings show it open 4pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday, 3pm to 11pm Friday, noon to 11pm Saturday and noon to 9pm Sunday (the brewery's own page shows noon to 9pm Sunday and 11pm close Friday and Saturday; one listing shows noon openings Monday to Thursday too).

Goose Island Fulton Street Brewery & Taproom

1800 W Fulton St, Chicago, IL 60612

The taproom attached to Goose Island's main production brewery, where it has brewed since 1995. Goose has been owned by AB InBev since 2011, but this is where the classics (312, IPA) sit beside test batches and vintage Bourbon County Stout, the barrel-aged stout it says was the world's first. Brewery tours run Friday to Sunday and can be booked online. Open noon to 8pm Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 10pm Friday and Saturday and noon to 8pm Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Guinness Open Gate Brewery Chicago

901 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL 60607

Diageo's second US Guinness brewery, a big brewery-restaurant in a former rail depot in Fulton Market. Most of what's on tap is brewed here and isn't the stout you know (lagers, IPAs and experimental beers), alongside a handful of Dublin-brewed classics. Open 11am to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 11am to midnight Friday, 9am to midnight Saturday and 9am to 11pm Sunday, with brunch 9am to 2pm at weekends.

Half Acre Beer Company

2050 W Balmoral Ave, Chicago, IL 60625

The brewery behind Daisy Cutter pale ale, one of Chicago's defining craft beers, at its Balmoral brewery with a taproom, full kitchen and a fenced beer garden behind. Half Acre and Maplewood announced a merger in March 2026 but say both taprooms stay open and the flagships won't change. Taproom and garden open 3pm to 9pm Wednesday and Thursday, 11am to 10pm Friday and Saturday and 11am to 7pm Sunday; the kitchen stops an hour before close. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Haymarket Brewery & Pub

737 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661

The oldest of the West Loop brewpubs, open since 2010, with a working brewhouse on view behind the bar, house beers brewed on site and made-from-scratch pub food. Open 11:30am to 11pm Monday to Wednesday, 11:30am to 1am Thursday, 11:30am to 2am Friday, 11am to 2am Saturday and 11am to 11pm Sunday; the kitchen usually closes an hour earlier.

Hop Butcher For The World

4257 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60618

Chicago's cult hazy-IPA brewery, which took over Half Acre's old Lincoln Avenue brewhouse and opened its taproom here in 2022. Expect a long board of double IPAs canned within days (several canned this week), plus pilsners and the odd lager, and a to-go store that draws people in from the suburbs. Open 11am to 10pm Tuesday to Thursday, 11am to 11pm Friday and Saturday and 11am to 7pm Sunday; the store closes two hours earlier (one hour on Sunday). Closed Monday.

Hopewell Brewing Co.

2760 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Bright, white-walled taproom a two-minute walk from the Logan Square Blue Line, celebrating ten years in 2026, known for clean, modern lagers, pale ales and IPAs (its Oktoberfest märzen is a fixture) plus board games and long communal tables. No kitchen; bring your own food. Third-party listings (Oct 2026) show 1pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 11pm Friday, 11am to 11pm Saturday and 11am to 7pm Sunday; its website was behind a bot check, so we couldn't confirm these on its own page.

Life on Marz Community Club

1950 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

The north-side outpost of Bridgeport's Marz Community Brewing: a small, arty brewery taproom inspired by Eastern European workers' clubs and listening lounges, with Marz's beers, non-alcoholic drinks, a big tinned-fish menu and DJs, talks and karaoke. Open 4pm to 11pm Tuesday and Wednesday, 4pm to midnight Thursday and Friday and 3pm to midnight Saturday and Sunday (Marz's own site; Life on Marz's page shows slightly different times, so check). Closed Monday.

Middle Brow Bungalow

2840 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

Middle Brow's brewery, bakery and pizza den: house beers and wine alongside pizza, pastries and tavern lunches, with a covered patio. Open 8am to 10pm Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 10pm Saturday and 9am to 9pm Sunday. Closed Monday.

Pilot Project Brewing

2140 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

A brewery 'incubator': Pilot Project brews and launches beers for small and up-and-coming brands (such as the worker-owned Brutalist Brewing Cooperative), so the taps are a cross-section of new Chicago beer, with kombucha, a kitchen and a patio. Open 9am to 10pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 11pm Friday and Saturday and 9am to 9pm Sunday; the kitchen closes an hour earlier.

Revolution Brewing Taproom

3340 N Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60618

The production brewery and taproom of Revolution, Illinois' largest independently owned brewery and the makers of Anti-Hero IPA. A big room beside the brewhouse with the core range, small-batch releases and Deep Wood barrel-aged beers; snacks only, outside food welcome. Brewery tours run here (21+). Open 2pm to 9pm Wednesday and Thursday, 2pm to 10pm Friday, noon to 10pm Saturday and noon to 6pm Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Solemn Oath Still Life

2919 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647

The Chicago taproom of suburban Naperville's Solemn Oath, opened in 2021: a classic-tavern room with a hand-painted Brunswick-style bar, a pool table, big windows and the brewery's IPAs, pale ales and Lü Kölsch on draft, plus food pop-ups at weekends. Open noon to 11pm Monday to Thursday, noon to midnight Friday and Saturday and 11am to 11pm Sunday.

Spiteful Brewing

2024 W Balmoral Ave, Chicago, IL 60625

Half Acre's scrappier next-door neighbour: 16 taps led by Spiteful IPA and God Damn Pigeon Porter, darts and board games, and Pequod's pizza you can order in with your pint. Dog-friendly inside, with a covered patio open year-round. Open 3pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday, 2pm to 11pm Friday, noon to 11pm Saturday and noon to 8pm Sunday.
