What it's known for
Not beer: the riverside cellars of Cálem, a Port house founded in 1859, beside the Dom Luís I bridge. Visits combine an interactive museum, a guided tour of the cellars and a tasting. There are evening fado visits, and a wine bar with tasting flights and Port by the glass. Open every day from 10am to 7pm (closed 25 December and 1 January). The last standard tour starts at about 5:40pm.
Book a tour slot ahead in high season (tour.calem.pt, or the Cálem tours on this page). If you don't want the tour, the wine bar is enough for one glass.
Check opening hours with the venue before you go: they change, especially early in the week.
