What it's known for
Not beer: the Gaia tasting room and wine bar of Quevedo, a family Port and Douro wine producer. It's in a 200-year-old former cooperage two minutes up from the river. You can walk in for Port flights, a Port tonic or small plates, or book a seated tasting. Open every day, noon to 8pm from April to November and 11am to 7pm from December to March. Closed on 25 December.
Prtwine lists live fado in the wine bar on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3pm to 5pm. There's no need to book for a drink, but ring ahead for a table.
Check opening hours with the venue before you go: they change, especially early in the week.
